Fish #200 is a Tarpon! Massive thanks to my guide Capt. Craig for being amazing and setting up the shot for success. I learned there's a bit of a difference when fighting a Tarpon, the candy cane is not the way. Keep the rod straighter and engage the butt more (that's what she said). Allowing slack when the tarpon jumps also increases the chance that they won't shake free! Worked on my double haul, still can't reach beyond 40' consistently. So FRUSTRATING...but that tarpon jumping was nothing short of magical. I'm very happy to report that I nailed the strip set...not bad for a trout woman!
